Parks and nature in central Katowice: the Silesian Insurgents Park and the Andrzeja, Hlond and Friends of Miskolc squares with fountains.

Four green places in the very centre of Katowice, one park and three squares. Good for a short rest between sightseeing in the city.

Where in central Katowice to rest among greenery?

The most park-like is the Silesian Insurgents Park between Korfantego Avenue, Roździeńskiego Avenue and Uniwersytecka Street, where the garden of the Tiele-Winckler estate once lay, with monuments to the Silesian Insurgents and General Ziętek. Cardinal Hlond Square between Mikołowska and Głowackiego streets has lawns, paths and the Kaskada fountain with two basins.

Andrzeja Square on Kopernika Street is a former marketplace and playing field, today with the Jędruś fountain, the Katyn Victims Monument and a tablet honouring Home Army soldiers. Friends of Miskolc Square on Sokolska Street, rebuilt in 2011, has rainbow benches and fountains; it is named after Katowice's Hungarian partner town. Further places in the district are gathered under Śródmieście, among the historic sights and atmospheric places, and greenery across the region is shown under parks and nature in Silesia.
