Atmospheric places in Wodzisław Śląski: the market square with its townhouses, St Cross Square and Korfanty Square in the old part of town.

Three squares in the centre, each with its own history: from a former trading ground to the site of a wooden church and a monument to the insurgents.

What does the market square in Wodzisław Śląski look like?

The market square forms the heart of the town and is counted among the biggest market squares in Silesia. Townhouses of the 19th century line its sides. Slabs pave the southern half, and in the north a little park with benches climbs towards the hilltop church of the Assumption of Mary.

Where to find history beyond the market?

St Cross Square lies in the old Racibórz suburb. Between 1525 and 1826 a timber Church of the Holy Cross stood here, which gave the square its name; a cross and an obelisk put up in 2000 recall it.

Wojciech Korfanty Square is set in the historic quarter between Sądowa, Kościelna and Wałowa streets, near monastery buildings. The key element is the monument to the Silesian insurgents from 1975.
