Parks and nature in Zawiercie: three city parks, the large Mickiewicz Park, Kościuszko Park with a replica chapel and OSiR Park by the little palace.
The parks differ in age and character: one was set out on former oak woodland, another in the English style before 1901, the third in the 1930s.
With Mickiewicz Park, the biggest of the three. It opened on 1 September 1929 where an oak grove had stood, and some 1,600 trees still grow in it. Jakub Löwenstein gave the ground, and the town bought more land. The engineer Władysław Petrych drew up the plan.
The oldest is OSiR Park on Szymańskiego street. It covers about 5 hectares, was created by Hugo Kuder before 1901 beside the Szymański villa, and is now on the monument register. Its paths formed a double loop, and its ponds drew water from the Młynówka.
Kościuszko Park arose in the 1930s on 4.66 hectares. Its present ornament is a copy of a wayside chapel of Our Lady of the Spinner.
Three, all described above. Entry to each is free.
