Scenic views in Wisła include Barania Góra, the Salmopol Pass, Lake Czerniańskie and the wooden lookout towers of Szarcula and Kubalonka, all free of charge.
This is a set for people who prefer a trail and a panorama to touring interiors. Two mountains, one pass, one reservoir and two towers give several kinds of views.
Where in Wisła to look at the mountains from?
From lookout towers and summits. Barania Góra and both towers, Szarcula and Kubalonka, give three different observation points, and the Salmopol Pass lets you see the ridge from the road.
Barania Góra reaches 1,215 m, topped in the Silesian Beskids only by Skrzyczne. A height of 1,220 m is sometimes quoted, but it belongs to a geodetic point on a concrete obelisk. The Vistula sets off from the western slopes, and the summit carries a steel tower and a nature reserve. Where the river truly rises is explained in a text on Barania Góra.
The Szarcula tower is a wooden observation tower by the Szarcula pass, in the Silesian Beskids Landscape Park, with a view of Lake Czerniańskie. The Kubalonka tower stands on the Kubalonka summit (830 m above sea level), is low, wooden and has one platform. A ladder leads up, which makes it awkward with toddlers or after rain.
Where in Wisła to see the lake and the pass?
Lake Czerniańskie is a dam reservoir in Wisła Czarne from 1973, with a capacity of 4.5 million m³ and a surface of 360 thousand m². The lake sits where the Biała meets the Czarna Wisełka; retention and drinking water were the reasons for building it.
The Salmopol Pass, known as well as Biały Krzyż, is 934 m high. Road 942 crosses it on the way from Wisła to Szczyrk and Bielsko-Biała. It is the highest pass in the Silesian Beskids reachable by road, and a trail junction with parking, an inn and a ski lift nearby.
Wisła as a town is described in an article on the summer resort and the presidents' residence.
