Parks and nature in Żywiec: the castle park with its Chinese House, the Grapa nature reserve and the manor and park complex in Moszczanica.
Three green places in one town: a historic park by the Habsburg castle, a strict forest reserve on a hillside and a Classicist manor with its park.
The castle park covers about 26 hectares in the Śródmieście district, south-east of the Habsburg castle. It was laid out in 1712 as a formal garden and later turned into a landscape park. The Chinese House stands on an island, and the whole has monument status.
The Grapa Reserve was established in 1996 on 23.23 hectares. It is under strict protection and safeguards hornbeam woods and ash-alder riverside forest of the Żywiec Basin. It lies on a steep slope above the Młynówka and Okiel streams.
The manor and park complex in Moszczanica consists of a Classicist manor of 1828, built by Ignacy Zieliński, and the park around it. From 1905 it belonged to the Kępiński family.
It is a strict reserve, so protection rules apply. Behave with care and follow nature conservation rules.
