Museums in Żywiec: the Żywiec Brewery Museum in rock cellars, the Municipal Museum in the Old Castle and the Museum of Armed Effort in a German bunker.

Three museums on different themes: beer, the town's history and highlander culture, and the military past of the Żywiec region. All are indoors, so they work well in the rain.

Where in Żywiec can you learn about beer?

At the Żywiec Brewery Museum, set up in the rock-hewn lagering cellars of the old part of the plant. It started on 9 September 2006, the brewery's 150th anniversary. Eighteen rooms, about 1,600 m2 together, lead from the brand's beginnings in the 19th century up to the present.

Where to learn about the town and region?

The Municipal Museum has occupied the Old Castle since 2005. Its displays range over local history, highlander folk culture, archaeology, wildlife and church art. Schoolgirls of a local studies club began the collection in 1925.

The Museum of Armed Effort of the Żywiec Region opened on 14 May 2011 in a German air-raid shelter of 1944. It tells of residents' part in the wars of the 20th century.
