Monuments in Wisła: the Zameczek of President Mościcki, the wooden Habsburg hunting lodge and the tall reinforced-concrete railway viaduct in Głębce.
Wisła is more than slopes and a river. Three monuments reveal the resort's past: a head of state's residence, aristocratic hunting and inter-war engineering.
Which monuments of Wisła link to those in power?
The President's Castle is a modernist palace at Zameczek 4, built in 1929-1930 on a slope of Zadni Groń. It was put up for Ignacy Mościcki and is now a residence of Polish presidents, visited in guided groups after prior notice.
The Habsburg Hunting Lodge at Lipowa 4a stands on the Przysłop clearing below Barania Góra. The wooden Tyrolean-style manor of 1897-1898 now houses a PTTK branch and lies on the Wooden Architecture Route.
What about engineering?
The railway bridge in Głębce is a reinforced-concrete arched viaduct of 1931-1933. It is 122 metres long with seven spans and piers reaching 25 metres, one of the tallest railway viaducts in the country.
