A swimming pool in Silesia can be one of eight places for swimming and bathing, from municipal pools and water parks to a hotel complex in Szczyrk.

The right choice depends on whether you want a lane for swimming, water play for children or a sauna afterwards. The list includes municipal, village-run and one hotel venue, and most have indoor pools, so a visit can be planned in poorer weather too.

Where in Silesia can you swim seriously?

For regular swimming, the best venues have a separate sports area. The region has several, in different corners of the voivodeship.

In Ruda Śląska Aquadrom sets aside a Sport zone next to Recreation and Saunarium. In Gorzyce the municipal centre Nautica on Bogumińska Street runs a swimming pool and organises classes in the water. In Czeladź the complex in Grabek Park has a swimming pool renovated in 2020-2021.

Which pool is best with children?

With children, what counts is shallow water, slides and space to play. Several venues in the region are planned with families in mind.

In Czeladź a water playground beside the recreation pool works well for younger children. The Częstochowa Water Park on Dekabrystów Street has a recreation pool and slides, and an open-air Summer Pool operates next door. In Tarnowskie Góry the water park tempts visitors with slides with effects and an artificial wave. In Leśna the aquapark is open all year, while its outdoor pools open in summer.

Where can you combine a pool with a walk or a sauna?

Two venues allow swimming to be combined with another plan: a stroll, a mountain trip or a rest in the sauna.

Aquapark H2Ostróg in the Ostróg district of Racibórz stands close to the castle, so a few minutes after a swim you can climb the castle hill. In Szczyrk, Aqua Aries beside the Aries hotel pairs a recreation pool, a jacuzzi and three slides with an extensive sauna zone. It is a good way to spend a day when the trails are out of the question.

Frequently asked questions

Where can you swim in Silesia when it rains?

Most of the eight venues have indoor pools. Aqua Aries in Szczyrk is especially convenient, because instead of heading uphill you can spend the day at the pool and in the saunas.

Is a swimming pool in Silesia accessible to visitors with disabilities?

Nautica in Gorzyce is adapted for visitors with disabilities. For the other venues it is worth asking the operator before a visit.

Which pool has outdoor basins?

Open-air pools belong to the Summer Pool next to the Water Park in Częstochowa and to Aquapark Leśna, where the outdoor part operates seasonally.

Is there anything to see near the pool?

Yes. In Racibórz the pool lies by the castle, and in Tarnowskie Góry a climbing wall operates in the adjacent hall. In Czeladź the pool stands in a park.
