Water parks and pools in Silesia: Aquadrom in Ruda Śląska, Wodny Park Tychy and water parks in Częstochowa. See where to go with the family when it rains.

The Silesian Voivodeship has a few large water parks and several smaller pool complexes. Most stand in the cities of the conurbation, but there are also some in the Beskids, in Cieszyn Silesia, in Racibórz and along the Oder. The list covers ten places that suit a rainy day with children, a quiet swim and a rest in a sauna.

Which water park in Silesia is the biggest?

By scale Wodny Park Tychy, opened in 2018, stands out: it has over ten thousand square metres of usable space and zones for recreation, sport, saunas and beer baths, spa, fitness and surfing with a simulator. It is powered by biogas from the Tychy sewage plant. Aquadrom in Ruda Śląska-Halemba, opened in December 2012, has three zones: Recreation, Sport and Saunarium. It is known for the first pool in the region with a fully movable floor and a seven-metre diving pool.

Where to swim in the mountains and the south?

In Szczyrk Aqua Aries at the Aries hotel is a good plan for a day when the weather rules out trails: three slides, a leisure pool with sunbeds, a paddling pool for children with a water playground, jacuzzis and a sauna zone of about four hundred metres. In Leśna near Żywiec the water park has indoor and outdoor pools, a slide and Finnish, steam and infrared saunas; the outdoor part works seasonally.

In Glinka near Ujsoły the Geo-Park is a resort set up in a former Magura sandstone quarry, with two open-air pools, climbing walls, rope parks and a zip line. Because the pools are outdoors, the resort's other activities suit a rainy day better.

What water parks are there in the region's cities?

In Częstochowa the Water Park on Dekabrystów Street has a leisure pool, slides and a sauna zone; next to it stands the Summer Pool with open-air pools. Construction took from 2018 to 2020. In Tarnowskie Góry the Water Park on Obwodnica Street combines slides, a wave pool, saunas and a sports pool twenty-five metres long with six lanes; a climbing centre works in the neighbouring hall.

In Racibórz H2Ostróg in the Ostróg district stands next to the castle, so a swim is easy to combine with a walk on the castle hill. In Czeladź the water relaxation zone in Grabek Park, modernised in 2020-2021, has a twenty-five-metre swimming pool, a leisure pool, a water playground and a paddling pool. In Gorzyce Nautica runs water classes such as aqua aerobics, swimming lessons and classes for seniors, and the facility is adapted for people with disabilities.

How to choose a pool for your needs?

For plain fun go to Tychy, Ruda Śląska or Tarnowskie Góry. For lane swimming choose Czeladź or Tarnowskie Góry. For saunas and rest, Szczyrk, Leśna, Częstochowa and Tarnowskie Góry fit. Families with children will appreciate the paddling pools and water playgrounds, and more ideas for a family day are in the categories For children and Sport and recreation.
